Luverne )  Rock County Community Library’s BOOK SALE Sept. 16th – 19th.  Hours are:  Wednesday noon to 7:30 pm. Thursday 10 am to 7:30 pm.  Friday 10 am – 4:30 pm.  Saturday 10 am – 1:30 pm with a $5 bag Sale.  Bag Sale:  Sept 21st to 26th. Week of Sept 28th – remaining books and items will be free.  Hosted by Rock County’s Friends of the Library.

Pipestone )  Meinders Community Library hosts Amelia Earhart & Her Cousin .. Wednesday, Sept. 16th – 3 pm.  Nancy Earhart Burt .. 2nd cousin of aviator – Amelia Earhart .. takes you on a journey through Amelia’s incredible accomplishments and influence on aviation as well as women’s history with her storytelling .. slides .. and video clips. 

Luverne )  The monthly Afternoon Escape Movie for September is “Steel Magnolias” – 2 pm .. Thursday, September 17th at the Historic Palace Theatre.  $6 admission. 

Fulda )  Fulda Memorial Library presents “Amelia Earhart & Her Cousin” .. Thursday, September 17th – 7 pm at Fulda City Hall.   As a second cousin to Amelia Earhart .. Nancy Earhart-Burt shares stories and information about Amelia’s life.  Amelia Earhart spent a few summers in the Worthington, MN area.  Learn more about local ties to her life story. This program is funded by Minnesota’s Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.

Luverne )  Fall Festival Service ..  11 am – Sunday, September 20th at The Blue Mound Lutheran Church, rural Luverne.  Service is followed by a catered meal.  Guest pastor will be Rev. Dr. Dennis Olson .. who was a Luverne High School graduate in 1972.  All are welcome!

September 22nd & 23rd at Pipestone National Guard Armory.  Accepting good useable items.   NO:  electronics .. baby cribs .. or car seats.   Rummage donations may only be dropped off from 10 am to 2 pm on Tuesday, Sept. 22nd.    Sale runs from 5 – 7 pm on Tuesday.   Wednesday from 9 am to 2 pm.  Brown Bag Sale starts at noon on the 23rd.

Luverne )  Tri-State Band Festival – 75th Anniversary –  Saturday, Sept. 26th in Luverne.  Unique this year due to road construction .. Main Street is not available for the Parade portion.  Parade bands will instead march on the newly completed Hwy 75 .. offering the shortest parade route in event history.  Parade competition – 9:30 am.  Field competition – 12:30 pm.

Pipestone )  Meinders Community Library hosts local author – Howard Schaap .. Tuesday, Sept. 29th – 6 pm.  Howard’s book – “Brooding Upon the Waters: A Memoir of Farming, Fishing, and Failure in America’s Lost Landscape” .. part medical mystery .. part farm crisis tragedy .. and above all – a lover letter to our region.  Free and open to the public. 

Pipestone )  Tip Night Fundraiser at Pipestone’s Pizza Ranch .. Wednesday, September 30th ..  5 pm – 8 pm. The Tip Night Fundraiser is where community dines in, or picks up, or has meal delivered. 10% of the night’s sales and 100% of tips will be given to the TJ and Whitney Carpenter family whose son – Isaac is in the Level 4 Epilepsy unit at Mayo Hospital in Rochester.  Proceeds help with the unexpected costs for the family.
