Luverne )  GHOSTBUSTERS Night at the Palace Theatre .. Fri, Oct. 30^th – 7 pm.  Free – all ages are welcome!  At 6 pm, come meet the Sioux Empire Ghostbusters with their fun gear .. Slimer .. towering Stay Puft Marshmallow Man .. iconic Ghostbuster vehicle “EKTO”.. creatures .. and more – before the movie.  1 free popcorn and drink or all attending. 

Slayton )  Murray County 4-H invites all youth in grades 5 through 8 to the annual BOO BASH .. Friday, October 30th at Murray County 4-H Building from 7:30 to 9:30 pm for games, concessions, and Halloween fun! An evening packed with activities, games, and tasty treats!  Admission is just $5 at the door.  Costumes are encouraged.

Rock Rapids ) Central Lyon High School presents  Shrek ~ The Musical .. last weekend in October .. Thursday, (no Friday) Saturday & Sunday .. October 29th, 31st & November 1st.   7:30 pm – Thursday & Saturday.  2 pm – Sunday.  On stage at the Forster Auditorium in Rock Rapids.  Shrek ~ The Musical .. a delightful show will have you laughing from beginning to end!  Tickets: Adults – $10. Luverne ) SPOOKY CRITTERS HIKE at Blue Mounds State Park .. Saturday, Oct. 31^st – 10 to 11:15 am.  Happy Halloween! Celebrate by joining the naturalist for a 1.25-mile hike across the Bison and Upper Cliff line trails. Learn about the animal species typically associated with this spooky season.  Use the Main Entrance to meet in the Picnic Area.

Lake Benton )  Beginning Experience hosts a HALLOWEEN Dance  .. Saturday, October 31^st .. 7 to 11 pm at Lake Benton’s Event & Community Center.  $15.  Bring a dessert or appetizer to share.  Costumes encouraged,  but not required.  Music:  Mobile Heartbeats Entertainment.  Pop and water available to purchase. 

Worthington )  Author Book Release Party .. Sunday, November 1^st .. 4 – 6 pm at Worthington Christian Church.  Author / Educator – Kristin K. Walerius has written “Delorean Detectives” .. a novel for middle grade kids that follows 10-year olds Jacki and Pedro from present-day Minnesota into the world surrounding the birth of Jesus.  Kristin’s experience as an educator helped shape a series featuring children from different backgrounds and challenges.  Event offers games, refreshments, and a book signing.

Pipestone / Slayton )  University of Minnesota Extension offers “Fair Farmland Rental Agreement” Workshops.  Farmers, landowners, and agriculture professionals are invited.  First workshop Friday, Nov. 6th in Pipestone at Minnesota West campus.  Next workshop Friday, Dec. 4th in Slayton at Murray County 4-H Building.  Workshops run from 1:30 to 3:30 pm.  Free.  Pre-registration is not required – but appreciated.  Call Pipestone Co. Garretson )  Palisade Lutheran’s Harvest Fest .. Sunday, Nov. 1^st .. 11 am – 12:30 pm.  Menu:  BBQ’s .. salads .. chips .. and homemade bars – free will donation.  Worship at 10 am.  Fundraiser for local community support and the “Church on the Street”.   Palisade Lutheran is near Garretson, SD at corner of MN Hwy 23 & County Road 5. 

Luverne ) “Notes of Gratitude” .. a Festival of Gratitude, Song & Dessert .. Sunday, November 1^st – 2 pm at Generations Event Center in Luverne (105 South Estey). Tickets – $20 and available for purchase now at The Palace Theatre’s box office. Music brings people together. Proceeds support: Generations and Luverne Street Music.

Luverne )  Light the City Park!  Call Luverne Chamber and reserve your space today (507-283-4061).  Displays can start going up starting November 3^rd.  All holiday displays must be up by Nov. 26^th.   Lights will be turned on Friday, Nov. 27^th.  A great way to promote your business or organization and add the “holiday” touch to Luverne City Park. 

Spirit Lake, IA)  Lakes Area Activity Sr. Center serves an Election Day Soup Luncheon .. Tuesday, November 3^rd .. 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.  Menu:  Chili,  Potato, Chicken Noodle soups and sandwiches.  While you are at the event .. you can also get your flu or covid shot.  The Sr. Center and HyVee host a clinic from 10 am to 2:30 pm. 

Russell )  Grace First Parish in Russell host their 130^th Annual Election Day Dinner .. Tuesday, November 3^rd .. 4:30 – 7 pm.  Full turkey meal with dressing .. mashed potatoes and gravy .. corn .. coleslaw .. cranberry relish .. homemade rolls and dessert.  Carry-out is available.  Country Store.

Slayton )  Help “Light Up Gullord Park” in Slayton.  Individuals, families, businesses, and community organizations are invited to help create a festive holiday wonderland.  Decorations .. lights .. display themes will start going up Wednesday, November 4^th.  Locations throughout Gullord Park are available on first-come .. first-served basis.   Reserve your spot with Slayton Area Chamber.  Light Up Gullord Park Celebration is Sunday, November 22nd with official turning on of lights and other festivities.

Strike Me Down .. and To Catch a Storm – the first in her Iowa Mysteries series.
