Pipestone ) Now thru February 28th … Pipestone National Monument Visitor Center’s normal winter hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm .. Tuesday thru Saturday. Closed Sundays and Mondays. The Circle Trail is always open for anyone wishing to walk. Be cautious, trail can become icy. ** Beginning January, the trail will not be cleared of snow. Visitors are welcome to bring snowshoes or check out a pair for free from the Visitor Center.
Edgerton ) Holiday Lights Parade in Edgerton .. Wednesday, December 7th – 6 pm. Enjoy the parade and hot cocoa or apple cider, sing carols. Parade route is same as the Dutch Festival Parade.
Slayton ) Murray County Historical Society presents the December Dinehart Lunchbox Lecture .. Thursday, December 8th – 12 noon in the 4-H building at Murray County Fairgrounds in Slayton. $3 person. Bring your lunch. This month’s lecturer is historian Daniel Peterson to talk about his newest book “The Story of Walnut Grove, Minnesota 1873-2022.” The A-Z history of the small southwest MN town made famous by author Laura Ingalls Wilder. Presentation is also live streamed on Murray County Historical Museum’s Facebook page.

Pipestone ) Pipestone County Christmas Care Distribution .. Saturday, December 10th. Pipestone Kiwanis and Pipestone County Food Shelf distribute toys for children ages 12 and under and food for families in need. Unwrapped toys can be donated until Thursday, December 8th and dropped off at: A&S Drug, Bomgaars, Coborns, Christensen Broadcasting, First Bank & Trust, First Farmers & Merchants Bank, First State Bank Southwest, Geyermans, Hank’s Foods, JBS, Pipestone Helping Farmers, PCMC, Stonehouse Quarry, Meulebroeck & Taubert, First Presbyterian Church, St. Leo Catholic Church, all Lutheran Churches in Pipestone, Dollar General, Family Dollar / Dollar Tree. Slayton ) Murray County 4-H was awarded a “Monogram Foods Loves Kids” Foundation Grant to host multi-generational events. One of the events is a Community Night .. Saturday, December 10th .. 3 – 5 pm at the Murray County 4-H Building in Slayton to celebrate the holidays with crafts, cookies, snacks, beverages, and take-home holiday goodies. All ages are welcome. Do not need to be a member of 4-H to come.
Pipestone ) Snowmobile Training .. Saturday, December 10th at Pipestone Municipal Airport’s meeting room (South Hwy 75). Class registration – 8 am. Class starts 8:30 am til 2 pm. For youth ages 11 to 15 years old. (11 year olds who will turn 12 by March 1st). Learn how to operate a snowmobile safely and obtain a driver’s certificate. Volunteers meet at Visitor Center – 7:30 am for complimentary coffee and donuts, break into groups, and head out to count birds! If you haven’t been birding .. this is a perfect chance to learn and help collect data. Experienced birders are always helpful with their knowledge. Fun for the whole family and provides crucial data about wildlife.
