Pipestone )  Pipestone Area Schools One Act Play “Bus Stop” will be performed for the public .. Thursday, February 2nd – 6 pm at the school auditorium.  Free performance.  Featuring 12 students in the cast and one as lighting technician.  Students competed last Saturday at subsections.

 

Slayton )  Fulda / MCC Wrestling Fundraiser – Arby’s Roast Beef Meal .. Thursday, February 2nd .. 4:30 – 7:30 pm in the Commons Area at MCC School during the basketball games Vs. HLO/Fulda and Jr. High Girls Vs. Minneota.  Meal includes:  Roast Beef Sandwich, chips, cookie, and drink – $10.  Sandwich only – $5.  

 

Hendricks )  Lake Hendricks Fishing Derby .. Saturday, Feb. 4th .. 11 am – 3 pm located at Hendricks City Public Lake Access.  Big Fish Prizes!  Three categories for Big Fish Prizes:  WALLEYE, NORTHERN, and PERCH!  Hosted by Lake Hendricks Improvement Association.  $20 – adult (13 and older) .. $5 – Youth age 12 and under.  // This year – Fishing Derby Entry Ticket is separate from the Lake Hendricks Special Raffle.  The Raffle is at the end of the Derby – 3 pm.  Drawing held at Tourney Headquarters Proceeds benefit Lake Hendricks Improvement Assn. 

 

Balaton )  ICE GOLF TOURNAMENT hosted by Balaton Fire & Ambulance .. Saturday, February 4th at Knudsen-Bosley Park by Lake Yankton in Balaton.  Two-person Best Ball teams.  $50 per team.  9-Hole Tournament .. Soup Feed .. 75% payout.  Registration – 10:30 am.  Lunch – 11 am.  Shotgun Start: 12 noon.  (alternate date in case of weather: Feb. 25).

 

America’s Ice Fishing Tournament is the 3rd Annual Event created by the Brainerd Jaycees in response to challenges the Pandemic placed on their original event – Brainerd Jaycees Ice Fishing Extravaganza.    America’s Ice Fishing Tournament .. Saturday, February 4th .. 8 am – 3 pm.  The event is nationwide and virtual .. family-friendly and fun for all ages.  Proceeds go to charities in  communities where there are participants.  Win one of 50 prizes including $2,500 cash.  Event is open country-wide to all ice fishing anglers and is hosted through the FishDonkey app.  Eligible tournament species, include:  walleye, northern, crappie, perch, and sunfish.  For more information, visit online Virtual Ice Fishing . org.

 

Pipestone )  Historic Pipestone Inc.’s USED BOOK SALE .. Saturday, February 4th .. 9 am to noon in the basement of the Keyes Building at 116 – 2nd Ave. SW in Pipestone.  Hardcover, paperback, fiction, and nonfiction books available.   Proceeds used to support HPI’s efforts to preserve the historic St. Paul Episcopal Church.    

 

Fulda )  Iron Horse Motorcycle Club’s CHILI FEED .. a scholarship fundraiser .. Saturday, February 4th .. 5 – 7 pm at Fulda Community Center / Legion.  Advance tickets – $7.                At the door – $10.  Includes: entry fee,  meal, and prize drawing.  Public welcome to bring a crockpot of their best chili .. have it there by 4:45 pm.  Grand prize – $200 .. other prize drawings for meat bundles, and $300 of assorted door prizes. 

 

Sleepy Eye )  Sleepy Eye Sportsmen’s 41st Annual Ice Fishing Derby / Raffle  .. Sunday, February 5th  on Sleepy Eye Lake.  Registration begins 9:30 am .. Derby from noon to 3 pm.  3 Cash Prizes in 6 categories: Sunfish,  Crappie, Perch, Bass, Walleye, and Northern.  Entry fee – $5 person.  Raffling off an Ice Castle Fish House,  2022 Can Am Outlander, and many cash prizes.  Raffle tickets available at many Sleepy Eye businesses.  Proceeds benefit local parks and lake projects.

Lake Benton )  Lake Benton Lions Club Breakfast Fundraiser .. Sunday, February 5th ..          9 am to 12:30 pm at Lake Benton Community Center.  Pancakes, French Toast, eggs, sausage, coffee and milk.  Proceeds benefit the needs of Lake Benton Fire Department, which includes a new replacement Ice Water Rescue suit.  Suits run $900 and over the years and use – suits need to be replaced.

Luverne )  Rock / Nobles Cattlemen Annual Banquet .. Monday, February 6th at the Big Top Tents & Events in Luverne located at 321 W. Hatting Street.   Social hour – 6 pm .. Steak Dinner – 6:30 pm.  Featured speaker:  Amanda Radke, 5th generation rancher from Mitchell, SD.   She has dedicated her career to serving as a voice for the nation’s farmers and ranchers.  Radke regularly tackles industry issues.  Tickets at door – $25.

Pipestone )  Calumet Players perform “These Shining Lives”  .. the 2nd & 3rd weekends in February .. Friday thru Sunday .. 10th thru 12th  &  17th thru 19th.  Based on the true story of four women who worked for the Radium Dial Company – a watch factory based in Ottawa, Illinois. The play shows the danger women faced and the lack of concern companies had for protecting the health of their employees. Pipestone ) Now thru February 28thPipestone National Monument Visitor Center’s normal winter hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm .. Tuesday thru Saturday.   Closed – Sundays & Mondays.  The Circle Trail is always open for anyone wishing to walk.  Be cautious, trail can become icy. ** Beginning January, the trail will not be cleared of snow. Visitors are welcome to bring snowshoes or check out a pair for free from the Visitor Center.
