Meet Jill!
Jill’s radio story comes full circle—she started as a high school senior working Sundays (8am–4pm…so much for late nights at the Showboat & Hollyhock Ballrooms 😄) with Christensen Broadcasting… and now she’s back where it all began decades later!
After studying broadcasting at Brown Institute in Minneapolis, Jill worked at KFMC/KSUM in southern Minnesota—on-air and behind the scenes with music and programming—building a strong foundation in all sides of radio. After stepping away to take on her most important role yet—becoming a new mom—Jill pressed pause on broadcasting to focus on family. When she was ready to return to radio, she found her way into media sales, landing in Sioux Falls with KELO/KTWB/KRRO radio stations, before moving on to the Tri-State area’s K101/KQAD. Now she’s back doing what she loves most: being on-air and connecting with local businesses and listeners.
When she’s not on the mic, you’ll find Jill walking Daisy, (her beloved Havanese) fishing with her husband, cruising on her Harley-Davidson Deuce, or cooking up something delicious for friends and family. She loves to entertain—think dinner parties, patio happy hours, and good company. You may even spot her at a local bar and grill—she loves connecting with people wherever good conversation and a great drink are flowing. She’s also a self-proclaimed Bloody Mary connoisseur, always on the hunt for the perfect blend of flavor, spice, presentation, and personality.
Music is medicine for the soul—and while she’s a rock & roll girl at heart, she’s also a big country music fan.
Rock & Roll. Faith. Freedom. That’s Jill.
Crash is a Minnesota kid at heart, raised in south Minneapolis before deciding on a career in radio sometime back in the 1900’s.
An only child raised by a single mom, he had two options for music: country AND western, until a babysitter switched his transistor radio which had been used only to listen to Vikings and Twins games up to that point, over to a rock station where he heard Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Black Sabbath and others. That was the end of Crash listening to country!
His first concert was the Eagles, Steve Miller Band and Pablo Cruise at the old Met Stadium (where the Mall of America stands) with 65,000 of his new friends the day after his 15th birthday. A couple months later, he “fell in love” with Nancy Wilson when he saw Heart and Head East under the Space Needle in Seattle.
Born with no natural musical abilities, he knew he needed to be near music somehow. It was a slight roundabout trip, but he often says he’s been allowed to do more than a kid from the Southside should have had the chance to do, especially outside of major markets in what’s largely been considered flyover country.
He got to be a part of the launch and transformation of B102.7 in Sioux Falls. That led to being hired to start KBAD-FM which led his life to get even weirder. From morning radio AND TV, to hosting national bands in our venue every week, to getting to the point where several of the guys he grew up listening to, now knew him by name and would randomly call or email just to ask how things are going.
Weird.
Of course that came to a crashing halt which led a few of the ‘survivors’ to start another rock station, this one on the internet, called KBACK. He’s been working for a radio group in central Minnesota for the past five years consulting, imaging and doing some newscasts.
Crash got to be part of a lot of big charity events as well as emceeing events like JazzFest, Hot Harley Nights, RibFest and RiverFest for many years.
In a career filled with some incredible moments, he was honored with an induction to the South Dakota Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in October 2025.
And now thanks to Collin & Carmen, he gets to continue to do what he loves, in an area he loves, on 101.1, The Rock Farm.
From the front row of a 1990s Metallica show to the front of the stage with a guitar in hand, music has always been the driving force for our newest voice on the airwaves.
Originally hailing from Luverne, Minnesota, and a proud graduate of Luverne High School, this hometown rocker eventually made his way to Mankato to pursue a degree in Psychology. While the degree gave him insight into the human mind, his heart was always in the gear and the grit of the music industry.
Before joining the station, he spent a decade living and breathing the industry at Guitar Center, helping local musicians find their sound. But he isn’t just an expert on the tech side; he’s a veteran of the local scene. If you’ve been to a show in the region over the last few years, you’ve likely seen him on stage. His musical journey has spanned across numerous projects, including Idyl Exhibit, and he currently keeps the spirit of the 90s alive with the alternative rock tribute Mr. Feeny, alongside his work with Pandora’s Box.
Bringing a lifetime of musical knowledge, a passion for hard rock, and the energy of a live performer, he’s ready for his next adventure as your new favorite rock DJ.

KCLP HISTORY
Originally launched in 1971 as KQAD-FM, the station that would eventually become KCLP began as the FM counterpart to AM station KQAD in Luverne, Minnesota. In its early years, the station operated at 100.9 MHz with limited power, primarily serving the immediate local area.
In 1983, following a major technical upgrade that increased both its signal strength and regional reach, the station moved to 101.1 MHz and adopted the call letters KLQL-FM. Along with the new identity came a shift to a country music format, branded as “K101,” which became a staple across southwest Minnesota and the surrounding region for decades.
For over 40 years, KLQL built a loyal listener base, becoming one of the area’s most recognized country stations, serving communities across Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa.
A new chapter began in February 2026 when the station was acquired by Christensen Broadcasting as part of a regional expansion that brought several southwest Minnesota and eastern South Dakota stations under local ownership.
On March 16, 2026, the station officially transitioned from KLQL to KCLP 101.1 FM, debuting a mainstream rock format branded as “The Rock Farm.” This marked a significant evolution in both sound and identity, positioning the station to serve a new generation of listeners while continuing its legacy of local broadcasting.
Today, KCLP delivers a high-energy mix of classic and modern rock across the region, carrying forward more than five decades of broadcasting history—now with bold new voices from Crash Rahman, Jill Thielbar, Bill VanHoecke & Bobby Cook.
